Sahitya Sabha appeals Paresh Baruah to join peace talks

GUWAHATI: Asom Sahitya Sabha has requested Paresh Baruah-led United Liberation Front of Assam (Independent) to join peace talks with the government.

“Our delegation meeting took an important decision. We request Paresh Baruah and ULFA(I) to join talks “with respect” to bring peace in the state,” said outgoing Sabha President Paramananda Rajbongshi.

Rajbongshi stated that the proposal to request Paresh Baruah for talks was taken at the delegation meeting at 75th session of Asom Sahitya Sabha which is underway at Sualkuchi.

Earlier, in an exclusive interview with Chief Managing Editor of News Live, ULFA commander-in-chief Paresh Baruah said that the outfit is ready to come for peace talks with the Indian government on its ‘core issue of sovereignty’.
