Thousands throng Sahitya Sabha session at Sualkuchi

GUWAHATI: People in large number attended 75th biennial session of Asom Sahitya Sabha at Sualkuchi on its 2nd day.

Various cultural and literary programmes have been organised to mark the session of the apex literary body at ‘Jyoti Khetra’.

Sattradhikar of Uttar Kamalabari Satra Janardan Deva Goswami inaugurated the ‘Namghar’ at the Sabha venue in the morning today.

The spirituality and Vaishnavite culture of Assam have been displayed through the Namghar.

Asom Sahitya Sabha which is revered as the apex literary body of Assam was established in 1917 to promote the culture of Assam and Assamese literature.

This year, the biennial session of the Sabha is being held at Sualkuchi which is known as the Manchester of the east for its exquisite silk weaving culture.
