GUWAHATI: “Union Budget has brought a ray of hope for Assam. We are happy that it has approved river link project between Dhubri and Sadiya. The budget has also recognised Sivasagar as an iconic town,” Assam finance minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his satisfaction over Union Budget which was tabled today by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

“This budget will be very good to the people. People belonging to middle class and lower class will get so much relief. The schemes in agriculture and horticulture will regenerate the economy. The health and education sectors will also be benefited,” Dr. Sarma stated.

However, the amount of funds in central schemes and devolution to Assam would be two key factors in determining the state budget, observed minister Sarma.
